Our Projects

At Tigray Global Environmental Restoration (TGER), we work at the intersection of environment, innovation, and community development. Through strong partnerships and grassroots implementation, we’ve launched impactful projects that address both ecological degradation and economic challenges across the Tigray region.

Soil & Water Conservation – Enderta

We implemented integrated soil and water conservation techniques to restore degraded farmlands in Enderta. This initiative improved soil fertility, increased agricultural productivity, and set the foundation for sustainable land management.

Watershed Management – Werae-leke

In Werae-leke, we introduced and adapted watershed management models suited to the region’s topography and climate. These models promote ecosystem restoration while supporting water availability for local agriculture.

Women’s Economic Empowerment through Beekeeping – Mugulat

To empower women-headed households, we provided honey bee colonies in the Mugulat watershed. This not only created sustainable income but also strengthened biodiversity and ecosystem services.

Solar Energy & Forest Protection – Mugulat

We promoted solar energy solutions in forest areas and exclosures of Mugulat, reducing deforestation and protecting natural habitats. The project helps preserve critical forest cover while offering clean energy alternatives to communities.

Moringa Farming in Marginal Lands – Kolatembein

By supporting Moringa growers in Kolatembein's degraded lands, we’ve increased household income and encouraged climate-resilient farming practices. Moringa, known for its nutritional and drought-resistant properties, plays a key role in our green economy mission.

Community-Based Reforestation Campaigns

We lead large-scale community reforestation efforts using indigenous tree species to revive degraded hillsides and watersheds. These campaigns not only restore ecosystems but also build local ownership and long-term stewardship of natural resources.
